Temple Community
The world is not comprehensible, but it is embraceable:
through the embracing of one of its beings. — Martin Buber
Our relationship to Holy Blossom Temple is deepened by
relationships with other members. The profound satisfaction,
the sense of belonging, as well as the spiritual and
intellectual stimulation rooted in community, are not
created in a vacuum: our participation is the crucial
element. At Holy Blossom, we provide our members with many
opportunities to experience community at all life stages.
These opportunities include:
-
Sisterhood and
Brotherhood,
which afford the opportunity for Jewish men and women to
relate to each other and explore ideas and interests
that have special meaning and attraction to them.
- Youth groups, which offer children, teens and
young adults a space to learn about and from each other,
and to engage in Judaism in a way that will speak to their
age and experience. Our groups include:
YEAH (for kids in Grades 4 to 6),
JYG (for kids in Grades 7 to 8),
HABSTY (for high-school age members), and
HBT on Campus (for
university/college students).
-
Family Programs, which connect families through
activities and the celebration of the Festivals. Family
Programs, such as Family Camp, Family Mitzvah Days
and Congregational Shabbat Dinners, serve not only to
strengthen the bonds within families by encouraging them
to worship, learn and have fun together, but by doing
these things with other congregational families, the
Holy Blossom Temple community is strengthened from the
inside out.
- Chavurot — smaller groups of members — helping
the group to grow in a Jewish way in a more intimate setting, where
each chavurah can determine its own program style and
activities based on similar interests.
-
Older Adults,
who enjoy regular Lunch and Learn in Retirement programs
and keep in touch with each other through the Connecting
Team of the Caring Community, which also hosts several
annual Gatherings, where members meet to enjoy good
company, a musical program and home-baked treats.
- Congregants in
mourning over the loss of a loved one
can have arranged
Shiva
visits by our
volunteer leaders, to provide comfort and a Temple presence when
needed. Our morning and evening minyans, at which
people can mark Yahrzeit, are also
led by volunteers.
-
Temple Singers
is our volunteer choir. Our Shabbat Morning Services are
enriched by the beautiful voices of these dedicated people.
Join us, participate and you’ll be an integral part of our
Temple community very quickly!
