Shabbat Morning Torah Study:
Rabbi John Moscowitz

The Gerald Schwartz/Heather Reisman Centre for Jewish Learning at Holy Blossom Temple
Shabbat
Holy Blossom Temple has a range of services on Shabbat – some for families, some for young adults, and some for all of us:
Friday Evening – Kabbalat Shabbat
Fridays at 6 p.m. in the Youth Chapel on the third floor
Our Synagogue welcomes Shabbat with a warm, communal worship experience. This simple, engaging service is filled with congregational participation and community spirit. An informal service, Kabbalat Shabbat has become an important part of the week for many of our congregants. Join us this Shabbat, and see if it’s right for you.
Tot Shabbat
Our Tot Shabbat Services are held on the First and third Friday of every month. The first Friday of the month is our Shabbat Service and Pot Luck Dinner beginning at 6:00 pm. The third Friday of the month is a Shabbat Service and arts & crafts beginning at 5:30 pm.
Join us for the special Shabbat Service on the first Friday of the month, for children aged five years and younger and their parents (grandparents and friends, too), as we welcome Shabbat with prayer, song, stories, then stay for dinner (RSVP required) and meet other families from our Temple community. On the third Friday of the month, join us for our Shabbat Service with prayer, song, stories and arts and crafts. For this service there is no registration required and everyone welcome.
Hot Shot Shabbat
Last year we began our program of “Hot Shot Shabbat” – this is for parents and children who have outgrown or “graduated” from Tot Shabbat (usually 6 and up). They join in the children friendly, Kabbalat Shabbat Service in the Youth Chapel, on the first Friday of the month and then join the Tot Shabbat group in the Philip Smith Hall for the semi pot-luck dinner afterwards. (RSVP required).
Saturday Morning
Shabbat Service
Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary
Our rabbis and cantor lead the congregation in worship, assisted by a choir or the Holy Blossom Temple Singers, our lay choir made up of volunteers from our community. In this communal service, we welcome our new B’nei Mitzvah into the community, honour brides/grooms-to-be with an aufruf and celebrate other life-cycle and congregational events.
During the summer, and on occasional Shabbatot, our Shabbat Morning Services are held in the Youth Chapel, on the third floor.
Family Shabbat
Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.
Family Shabbat Services are perfect for families with children. These full services for adults — held in a kid-friendly environment — allow the whole family to experience a prayerful, enjoyable Shabbat. Kids are welcome to take a break in our daycare room, and amenities such as changing tables and snacks are provided for parents’ convenience. These more casual services encourage participation, and have different Torah studies for different ages. Stay afterwards for the kiddush and lunch, and get connected with other members of our vibrant community.
