In what some are calling the best overall game played by the Holy Bs in 5 years (or more), the Bs cruised to an 18 – 3 victory over Beth Sholom today landing the team in the league semi finals for the first time in over 5 years. We do not know who we are playing yet in that game but expect that it will be the winner of the Temple Kol Ami/Beth Tzedec game on September 18. This morning started on an appropriately sombre note as both teams met at the Read more »
The Holy Bs took game 1 of their best of 3 quarter final series against Beth Sholom with an exciting 18 – 16 come from behind victory. The Bs trailed at one point early in the game by an 8 – 4 score and then scored 5 runs in each of the 4th and 7th innings and took a 7 run lead into the ninth. Beth Sholom battled back with 5 in the ninth making it close before ending the game when a runner at second base left the base early on a swing and Read more »
The Holy Bs finished the season on a high note with a 33 – 8 win over Beth Torah ending the regular season with an 8 – 2 record. We also set a team record with a total of at least 23 players suiting up for the Holy Bs this season including promising rookies Matthew Dicker and Adam Anshan (more about Mr. Dicker in a moment). The Holy Bs have now won 6 games in a row with our last loss being on June 19th. We want to thank our many supporters Read more »
That is right folks, the Holy Bs improved their record to 7 – 2 with a 15 – 14 victory over our rivals from Beth Tzedec. This game may not have been the best performance by the Bs this season but it was close to being the best and it was certainly the most exciting game we have played in a very long time. We led the game from wire to wire with our largest lead of the game being 14 – 8 after 7 innings. Those Beth Tzedec guys could certainly Read more »
The Holy Bs improved their record to 6 – 2 with a rain shortened 11 – 7 victory over Beth David (it may have actually been an 11 – 5 victory; we are in the process of discussing the rain out rules with the league commissioner but we do know it was a win). We barely got the necessary 4 ½ innings under our belts before the skies opened up on us. The Bs came out with the hot bats in the first inning today as our first 5 batters scored, Read more »
The Holy Bs notched another big win with a decisive 16 – 4 victory over our rivals from Beit Rayim. The Bs scored runs in all but two innings and played very solid defence only allowing the opposition to score runs in two of their nine innings. Richie Borins’ 10 year old son Jack kept track of scoring for the game and, in honour of his birthday a few days ago, was allowed to pick the offensive and defensive stars of the game. On defence, Read more »
The Holy Bs put on an impressive display of defence on July 17 in a 10 – 8 win over Temple Kol Ami. In the last two games the Bs have beaten the 2010 League Champions from Temple Emanuel and now the 2009 champion TKA team. The offensive star of the game was Ryan Abrahamson with not one but TWO inside the park home runs! Well done Ryan! Here are some other points of interest: Before today the lowest number of runs scored by Temple Kol Read more »
The Holy Bs finished the month of June with one of the biggest wins in recent history. Why was this win different from all other wins you ask? First, we beat Temple Emanuel, for the first time in a long time. They also won the championship just last season and feature a former Holy B on their team – Brian Britt. The final score was 20 – 16 for the Bs. The Bs scored in each inning but the first, had two 5 run innings and did not even bat in Read more »
Holy Bs Baseball Update – June 19. The Holy Bs’ comeback bid fell a little short on this otherwise picture perfect Father’s Day. The Bs put up 4 runs in the ninth inning but lost 18 – 13 to their fierce rivals at Pride of Israel. The difference in this one was the 4 or 5 balls that Pride managed to hit over the fence where even the steady Bs’ outfielders could not reach them. We did manage one homerun ourselves and it was of the inside Read more »
On June 12th, the Bs welcomed first time players Matthew Dicker and Adam Anshan to the team and both of them had good debuts reaching base two out of three times apiece. Nice to have some young blood on the team especially from some guys whose families are so involved in Holy Blossom life and governance. The Bs let Har Zion take a 5 – 0 lead in the first inning but got the momentum firmly on our side when Randy Cass launched a three run Read more »
